"Fat Old Sun" is speaking in the first person as a cannabis plant ("roll me up."). The Black Sabbath song addresses the cannabis plant as a living person, "you introduced me to my mind" "Fat Old Sun" and the Black Sabbath song "Sweet Leaf" are both very interesting. Oh no but the cover was about "a pacemaker"Īnd the cow is sacred in India because. I find it humorous how, because of all the bad press Syd brought them, they decided to pretend that they weren't into acid anymore and just "wholesome plant psychedelics" like funky dung and morning glory seedsīut then you get "the Last Sunlight Disappears"" The various live versions of "If" and "Fat Old Sun" are, of course, preferable - but the long title track is really great in its studio form (probably rivals some live versions), and as I said, "Alan's Breakfast" is a little better than I'd remembered (well, some of it is). AND " Summer '68" - oh my gosh, I thought I knew this track (had streamed it a bunch over the years, but always on my phone or crappy laptop speakers.īut hearing " Summer '68" on a big stereo (finally) was really a bit of a revelation, actually. So the ONLY tracks I really didn't know as well were "Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast" (some of which I'm enjoying now a lot more than I'd remembered). Knew most of the tracks, and have had silver-disc (bootleg CD) BBC versions of the big title track, "If", and "Fat Old Sun" since about 1989 or 1990. Big Floyd fan for the last 25+ years, but I somehow avoided buying the legit AHM album until just recently (I had everything else).
